Project Swann

PROJECT SWANN

The Brief

Originally built circa 1938, this stunning Tudor style home received a new lease on life when our clients undertook a renovation and extension project in 2018. A brand new double garage was added at the front of the home, and a large extension was adjoined to the rear of the property, perfectly blending old and new. We were requested to paint both the new additions to the home, as well as selected existing internal and external areas.

What We Did

We really enjoyed painting the new garage to tie in with the existing Tudor style timber battens, and gave the original battens to remainder of the home a refresh as we went along. The front entry and walkway were all repainted, bringing the front door, brick window sills and timber in this area from white to black to add some extra ‘pop’.

The entire rear extension was painted outside and in, along with additional internal painting works to the rooms that directly adjoin to the extension. We’ve since completed repainting works to remaining rooms inside the existing section of the home, giving it the same fresh feeling as the extended area!

Project Laurel

PROJECT LAUREL

THE BRIEF

This was our second time to visit and work on this beautiful queenslander home. Our clients originally sourced us for the painting of their newly renovated master suite, and now required the remainder of the home’s interior to be refreshed.

WHAT WE DID

As with most traditional queenslander homes, this home is filled with iconic timber fretwork, fanlights, and VJ boards. In order obtain the greatest level of coverage as well as a smooth and consistent finish, we used spray techniques to paint all fanlights, fretwork and architraves. Spraying is an ever growing part of our trade that allows us to get right into intricate areas and small nooks without leaving visible brush lines or runs. This said, there is a time and a place for spraying, and it certainly doesn’t replace the traditional aspects of our trade. All preparation and the painting of all walls and doors was completed by hand, as was the caulking of all skirting boards to the timber floor to create crisp lines, and to help prevent draughts and creepy crawlies.

Project Canungra

Bulimba State School infants building, circa 1915

PROJECT CANUNGRA

THE BRIEF

At 114 years old, this beautiful old building was in the midst of being repurposed from classrooms to commercial suites, and required an exterior restoration.

This building was originally the Bulimba State School’s infants building, consisting of three classrooms, cloak rooms at either end, and the teachers’ quarters in the middle. Amazingly, it was built back in 1915 by local (and now iconic) Brisbane builders, Hutchinson Builders, as one of their very first projects. The quality of their workmanship has since stood the test of time, with only minor modifications having been made by the school over the years.

Scheduled for demolition in recent years, our client saw an opportunity to save a piece of Brisbane’s heritage, and instead had the building transported to it’s now home in Canungra. A modern extension is nearing completion underneath, with the original building located above and restored to it’s former glory. Our client has been sure to retain the original design with regards to the gables and verandah entrances, paying homage to the building’s 114 year history.

WHAT WE DID

With the weatherboards looking a little shabby-chic on our arrival, we put a lot of time and effort into our preparation, to ensure a smooth finish and lasting results once we had completed painting.

There were some tight squeezes for the team to paint the gables and the weatherboards behind them, however they tackled it well and left the property looking as good as new. We are hopeful that there may be another 114 years in this property yet!

Project Sparkes

PROJECT SPARKES

THE BRIEF

Our clients have lived in their beautiful Queenslander for over 20 years, and had always maintained it in it’s original state with dark timber architraves and timber panelling, paired with butter yellow walls. Now after a new look, we were tasked to refresh the interior of the home with a crisp and fresh white finish. After just a few weeks, the team were able to really transform the home by creating a much greater sense of space with a light and airy feel, just in time for summer!

TESTIMONIAL

“These guys have done the most amazing job! Nothing is too much trouble and all requests were attended to so willingly. Such a transformation! We now have so much light and it looks amazing, every detail was attended to so expertly. Such perfection! We are so so happy!!!”

Project Waverley

PROJECT WAVERLEY

The Brief

We were tasked to complete all aspects of painting for this brand new home, working with the builder and other trades as the project progressed.

What We Did

We kicked this project off by working on the external of the home, and boy, did we have some colour changes! The client had a vision in mind for the home, however after seeing full walls painted and not feeling that the original colour selection was  quite right, they made a few changes on the way to land on the colours you see here today. We’re glad they did, as the contrast between the dark and light looks sensational! Our team worked with perfection to cut in the contrasting colours against each other, and it certainly paid off. Upon completion of the external the team headed inside, creating bright open spaces for a lucky family to move into and enjoy.

PROJECT OLEANDER

The Brief

We were requested to complete painting works to all internal and external surfaces of this home, including the coating of external timber feature walls and ceilings, and beautiful blackbutt doors.

What We Did

We kicked off this project by bringing life and colour to the external of the home, completing all work to the eaves, matrix board and cladding. The team then had the pleasure of coating the front and rear timber balcony walls and ceilings, adding a really unique feature to the home.

Inside, we spent a few days high in the sky completing works to the lofty ceiling that features above the living area. The remaining walls and woodwork were finished in crisp white paint, and the doors were glossed with a jet black finish.
